Why we keep it simple

What goes on your skin matters.

Skin is a good barrier, but not a perfect one. Nicotine and HRT patches work because some substances pass through it on purpose. So we keep our ingredient lists short enough to read in one breath.

Our tallow balms, salve and body butter contain no water, so they need no preservatives or emulsifiers. Most have between four and six ingredients, and you’ll recognise every one.

Rooted in tradition

A small family business in Leicester.

Tayyib Tree began with a simple wish: to give our own children pure, nourishing food that matched our values. Tayyib means pure and wholesome.

We still make everything by hand, in small batches. We render our own tallow, brew our elderberry syrup, ferment our kimchi and garlic, and slow-cook our ghee. We use organic ingredients wherever we can, and nothing synthetic.

Is beef tallow good for your skin?

Tallow is rendered beef fat. It’s almost entirely triglycerides, the same type of fat that makes up the biggest share of your skin’s own oil, so a small amount softens dry skin without leaving a heavy film. Many people with dry and sensitive skin use it daily. It’s rich, so start with a little and patch test first. We render ours slowly from HMC-certified grass-fed suet. Read more about tallow.

Is tallow balm good for eczema?

Many of our customers with eczema-prone skin use our tallow balms every day, and the unscented options and the honey-free salve are our gentlest choices for very reactive skin. We can’t promise results for a medical condition, so patch test first and speak to your GP if skin is broken or infected. What tallow can and can’t do for eczema-prone skin.

Which product should I start with?

For your face and everyday dryness, the Tallow & Honey Whipped Balm. For very dry or sore patches, and for babies, the Tallow Salve. Not sure? Try a sample for £2.

Does tallow skincare smell of beef?

Properly rendered tallow has very little smell. Unscented products can have a faint natural scent that fades within a minute or two. The scented versions use pure essential oils only.

Is your tallow skincare halal?

Yes. Our tallow is rendered from HMC-certified halal suet, and every other ingredient in our skincare and food is from a halal source.

When will my order arrive?

Everything is made by hand, so orders are dispatched within 2–5 working days. UK delivery is free on orders of £50 or more.
