Which tallow skincare product is best for me and my condition/concern?
Question: How do I store my tallow balm/salve/body butter?
Answer: You can store your tallow products in a cool, dark place away from heat as it may melt the tallow and alter its texture.
Question: What happens if my tallow product melts?
Answer: That's normal if exposed to heat, and will re-harden once cool, but the texture may change (for example with the whipped balm, from a whipped consistency to a solid balm consistency). It doesn't change the efficacy of the product, but if you want to harden it quicker, you can refrigerate until it's hardened.
Question: Which tallow product is best for my condition?
Answer: Please refer to chart above. In general, all of our tallow products are good for all ages (even babies) and skin types, for multiple purposes, but some may be more suited than others for certain conditions and use cases. The whipped tallow and honey balm is great for the face and for acne, due to it's light creamy texture. The salve works wonders for rashes (including nappy rashes and heat rashes), scars, large areas of the body, and eczema/psoriasis. The body butter, works fantastic on larger areas of the body and conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Question: I have really sensitive skin. Is this right for me?
Answer: Yes! Although every skin type is different and may react differently, tallow, along with our our other all-natural ingredients are well suited for sensitive skin. Additionally, for the extra-sensitive skin types, our products come in varieties of unscented with absolutely no essential oils.
Question: My product says unscented but I still smell it, is that normal?
Answer: Yes, although it is "unscented" it is filled with amazing natural products such as tallow, honey, shea butter (for the body butter), all of which have their own natural scents. Honey is sweet smelling, shea butter is very earthy, and tallow is...well...beefy. We triple purify the tallow to render it almost completely removed of any "beefy" smell, but more sensitive noses may still pick up on it (then our scented versions may be best for you). Additionally, we infuse our tallow and oils in fragrant and therapeutic botanicals such as lavender, chamomile, calendula, rose, etc., so the scents of those will also be present. Rest assured, these "unscented" scents yield products that are very mild and calming for even the most sensitive skin types, and aren't the result of any hidden ingredients or added oils/fragrances.
Question: What type of fragrances do you add to your products?
Answer: We only use pure essential oils in our scented products. When we select essential oils, we always source the highest quality oils from botanicals that not only smell nice but are known traditional for their healing and soothing properties, and are steam distilled and always solvent free. We never use synthetic fragrances, which may make products smell amazing, but not so great for your skin.
Question: I'm allergic to pretty much everything. Do you have any "hidden" or "secret" ingredients that aren't listed?
Answer: Nope! What we list is what's in the product and nothing more. All our products are handcrafted and we use facilities that may have allergens present like nuts and dairy, but follow protocols and take measures to avoid cross contamination seriously. We always recommend doing a patch test on a small area prior to full use of any skin product including ours. That way, you know for sure if there are any sensitivities prior to going full on with usage.
Question: What type of tallow do you use?
Answer: We only source our raw beef suet (internal fat, most abundant in nutrition and benefit) from high quality UK suppliers of grass-fed beef products from local farms with the highest quality and animal welfare standards and that are HMC halal certified. We then meticulously render the suet fat into tallow using a proprietary triple purification method that allows us to ensure a shelf-stable final product that is of the quality we would expect for ourselves and our own family (including babies!). That being said, as tallow is a natural product and as the seasons change, so does the colour and texture of the tallow, along with the fat composition (ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat) due to dietary, environmental, metabolic and other factors affecting the cattle. This change may alter the texture and colour of the tallow slightly but the efficacy is still the same. Thanks to our proprietary methods, we are able to minimise most of the affects of variability and can maintain a relatively consistent product year-round.
